Alpha-Financials as delegate at the annual ABDA conference at the NEC Birmingham on July 4 and 5th 2012.
To ensure our team stays totally up to date with the technical developments within the AD world, Jeremy Boylan and Anne Laleman visited the exhibition on July 4th and attended the conference the day after. The exhibition confirmed again that although the technology is many hundreds of years old, the move from the farm to waste is more recent in the UK and the interest in exploiting AD as a financial investment is increasing. Alpha-Financials made preliminary contact with Compass Business Finance and we look forward to continuing the talks started at the exhibition. During the conference, and relating to the technical side, one of the major outcomes was that ‘the devil is in the detail’, with examples such as stones in the AD or miscalculations of the slope of the feeder. On the financial side, there appears to be appetite and more and more assistance at hand as both Clydesdale Bank, a part of the National Australian Banking Group (NAB) and Downing, a London based Venture Capital Trust presented their experience. James Miles-Hobbs, farmer of the year in 2011, shared his extensive expertise in how to get ready to answer the question if an AD plant on your farm is something you should pursue or an idea that you should ditch in the very early stage, because the major questions are not answered satisfactory. Both the technology and the finance related talks emphasized the necessity of involving experts. So, whilst the reputation of the AD plant builder is crucial to maximize your output, the expertise of making professional business plans is crucial to make the right decision or to substantially increase your chances of getting funding. Alpha-Financials is the right place to get your business plan into a shape that will maximize your chances of success.
